Living Spaces

Very specific and diverse commissions seeking to capture the highly personal vision of the clients.

Upcycling doors
The act of painting does not always involve canvases and easels: the transformative power of art enables new life to be infused into everyday objects that are no longer loved or used.
It all starts with a simple idea: to rescue tired old doors and convert them into key components of living spaces by adding a new visual appeal and purpose.
Both projects embraced these doors not only as surfaces on which to paint, but as active items of beauty in their own right. In each case, the theme was determined by the specific need of the space, with the overall goal of giving new life to otherwise discarded objects through colour and paint.
Old wooden doors, using acrylic paint and indoor or outdoor protective varnishes.
Work I. Bathroom door
Painting of wooden door connecting master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The theme is a tropical jungle with palm leaves in lively green tones against a blueish background. The metal door handle was also painted so as to seamlessly form part of the whole. A coat of special varnish to ensure resistance in moist rooms was added to the surface and the wooden doorframe was painted black to make the colours truly pop.

Work II. Door in corner of the garden
This project formed part of the reconversion of a garden area inspired by the Majorelle Gardens of Marrakech. This shady corner made it impossible to grow bougainvillea, so this plant in full bloom was painted on an old discarded door. An explosion of magenta and shocking pink against a blue-green background, finished off with a couple of coats of special all-weather varnish.

Marrakech Palms
This work was created for a sitting room with a 5 metre high white wall. The theme and tones had to harmonise with existing décor, adding a large format item in line with the scale of the space.
The client wanted a botanical motif that would reflect the country style of the home, at the same time impeccably blending with the dark tan leather sofa, cushions in earthy tones and the large expanse of whitewashed wall.
Work - 160cm x 130cm
The work was created against a background of gradient tones of burnt sienna, dark grey and copper to match the soft furnishings in the room. Palm trees were chosen for their verticality, painted in dark tones, gold leaf and gold paint. Rusted iron shavings were used to depict the dates in the trees, adding texture and an organic character to the composition.

Wedding Gift
This work was commissioned as a wedding gift from the bride’s friends, who sought to present the couple with an intimate and personal reminder of their special day.
Photographs of the flowers adorning the bride’s hair and of the actual multicolour wedding bouquet were provided. The aim was to reflect these floral elements on a small format canvas painted with colourful tones and gold leaf.
Both the gift givers and the couple were delighted with the result: a thoughtful offering that is pleasing to the eye and a charming visual memory of a celebratory occasion.
Work - 50 x 30 cm
The painting depicts the white freesias in the bride’s hair and the flowers in her bridal bouquet in a free composition made with acrylic paint, gold leaf and collage on canvas. Bold brushstrokes and heavy paint on a background of canvas and paper, finished off with a glitter varnish to add sparkle and light.

Stormy Sea II
This work was created at the request of a client, after having seen and loved Stormy Sea (first picture), presented at an exhibition in Son Verí (Mallorca, Spain) in November 2024. Since the original work did not suit the space on the wall in his home, a new painting in this same style but different dimensions was commissioned.
The new piece differs from the chromatic range of the original Stormy Sea: he wanted the blue toned down. The aim was to retain the expressive power and movement of the sea, in tones that would match the décor of the space for which it was intended.
The client was very pleased with the result: he got the painting he imagined, in the size he needed and with the tonal range that best fits his home and personal taste.
Work - 80 x 120 cm
Acrylics on canvas, replicating the drama of the original Stormy Sea through a composition of movement and force, created to blend in naturally with the living space.

Clay Tiles with Palm Trees
This project stemmed from a collective exhibition of painted roof tiles held by the Town Council of Algaida (Mallorca, Spain) in December 2024, that was held over the Christmas period in the exhibition space Sa Peixateria in that same town.
After visiting the show, a German client asked for two tiles painted with palm trees to hang on either side of the front door of his country home in Mallorca.
